No-exam life insurance
Who gets approved without an exam, how the process works, and what to do if you don't.
Many carriers now offer quick underwriting: for people in age and amount ranges, they decide using your application, prescription records, driving record, and other data instead of a medical exam. Some say yes the same day. Each quote says whether an exam is required, maybe required, or not.
What it changes
Skipping an exam doesn't mean skipping review. Carriers verify your answers, and a policy written on wrong information can be challenged in the first two years. If their data raises a flag, they may still ask for tests; you choose whether to go forward.
Who tends to qualify
Typically people under about 60 getting coverage within the carrier's fast-track limit, with no serious health background and no tobacco in the past year or longer. Blood work from a doctor's visit in the past year can substitute for a test.
If an exam is required, expect a paramedic to visit your place or workplace in the Santa Cruz area for about 20–30 minutes, with no cost. Good results from the exam can improve your class, so it's not always a drawback.
